Capital letters

 Cody has been matching lower and upper case letters.

ICE names

These boys have been exploring ice. They made their name out of ice on the cold ground. It didn't last long though so we had to be quick to take their photo. Very creative! What could you do next?

Science online

These super star learners are gathering new information from a movie on You Tube about the water cycle. They are working on their own project that inspires them to learn about our world. Scientists in the making.

Magic Show with El Grego

The children were fascinated by the amazing El Grego.  He turned a parrot into a rabbit.  He put his helper into a box and stabbed her with rods.  She came out carrying flowers and smiling.  He sent a message about becoming a hero by helping, encouraging,being respectful and taking opportunities.

Matt and his dog Rocket

Matt and his dog came to talk to us about keeping safe in the mountains.  Rocket is a trained Search and Rescue dog that can track anybody if they get buried.

The children got to greet Rocket the correct way by touching him on his chest.

Cody and Max are researching about Tornadoes

Cody and Max decided to research Tornadoes after Skye brought in a newspaper clip about the tornado in Oklahoma.

They have learnt that tornadoes are tough and break down buildings.  

They are a funnel of very strong wind.

F5 are the strongest tornadoes.

Retelling Stories

We have been learning to retell a story. We have to remember how the story starts, what the problem is in the story, how the story ends and all the details inbetween. Its great for thinking about sequencing, comprehension and talking about text. We take turns sharing our stories with a buddy then they get to tell their buddy their story. Awesome respect and listening skills developing on both sides.

These boys have been talking about treasure from this awesome big book. Great skills in taking turns, investigating language and exploring text together.

Story Telling

Cody is retelling the story of Treasure Island. Alongside him is a fabulous puppet show to support him. Awesome teamwork guys.

Paper Plane Challenge

An off shoot of our bird inquiry has been an interest in flying things.  The boys here made some paper planes and were testing them out to see who's one would fly the greatest distance.  Who won?  What changes could you make to your plane so it could fly even further?

Marble Run

The marble run construction is providing some good challenges in problem solving and sharing ideas.  Here are William and Cody B working together to find a new path for the marble.

Tennis Skills

These super learners got together to play tennis. Awesome skills working together, while developing some very clever ball hitting skills. Tu meke learning.

Paper Planes

We have been investigating flying and flight. Max and Cody have been experimenting with paper planes to see ways they can modify the planes wings and shape to make them go faster. Cody wanted to find out how to make his plane do loops in the air. He discovered some awesome features he can change to make his plane do all kinds of tricks. These boys are both now teachers for this station, helping others learn new things. 

Recording a weather station

Today Cody and Jah were presenting the weather on T.V.  Excellent work boys.  Maybe you could add some props of maps and weather symbols to improve your presentation.

I wonder how long this string is?

As Cody was showing me his box construction he wondered how long the string was?  How could he measure it?  Cody had an idea to use the sticks.  He worked on this all by himself and was able to tell me it was 13 sticks long.  Super measurement Cody!
