ICE names

These boys have been exploring ice. They made their name out of ice on the cold ground. It didn't last long though so we had to be quick to take their photo. Very creative! What could you do next?

Our Inclined Planes

We have been learning about simple machines that help us to invent new kinds of technology. Sebbie's Dad came in to help us make our own inclined planes. These are made out of wood. They are for us to lie on the floor to do our research and investigating. It helps to keep the book up so we can work more easily.

Shape

Pod 2 are learning all about 2D and 3D shapes.  We are learning to sort shapes, describe them and find out how many sides and corners they have.  One way to help us to do this is to make shapes, this can be with clay, rods, straws, geoboards and rubber bands, drawing them etc.  Here are some examples of some of our independent work last week.

Paper Plane Challenge

An off shoot of our bird inquiry has been an interest in flying things.  The boys here made some paper planes and were testing them out to see who's one would fly the greatest distance.  Who won?  What changes could you make to your plane so it could fly even further?

Pod 2 Boy Band

 Meet the latest boy band to hit pod 2. Kahlarni, William and Fletcher independently created a band with different types of drums on stage. They played twinkle twinkle, very well and then created their own song. Very entertaining. Fantastic self directed learning boys, as well as cooperative skills.
