What is angry like?

We have been exploring our feelings as part of our Keeping Ourselves Safe programme.  Here are some examples of describing what angry is like.

Chloe F
When I am angry my head explodes.  My face feels red.  My legs fall to dust.

Arliya
When I am angry I get fire.  It gets fire on my head.  My legs have pimples.

Monty
When I am angry I feel mad.  I feel sad.  I shout!

Jessie
When I feel angry I feel like I am a volcano.  I see a big red splodge on the ground.  I fall to the ground.

Rachael
When I feel angry my head feels funny.  I see my face with smoke.  My brain shakes.

Exploring Learning in Pod 2

Then she wrote it in a new language. for fun.

The children have had great fun pretending to be the newsreader and/or the weather person.  They have been practising their skills in speaking in a clear voice and planning what they need to say.

Our POD's Travel Agency

W have been having a blast in POD 2.  We now have a Travel Agency in the Role Play area.  Children are making their own passports and brochures.  They are learning about phone conversations, taking bookings and flying a plane. Looking at other cultures and countries, maps and flags.The children are loving this. YAY!!

Measuring the Kakano way ...

For week 1 and 2 we have been learning all about measurement. It has been exciting to see how the children have been practising their learning independently through our learning spaces. Here are 3 examples of different ways to find out about longer, shorter, taller and even some ways to measure this.
A group of boys including Myles, Monty, Jack and Jah joined the construction straws together to see how long they could make it. What a big challenge, nearly the length of Pod 2!



  Blaise and Ania Kanu working together to find out how to measure a row of beads. Blaise was able to read the numbers on the measuring tape and make sure she had started at the baseline,great investigating.
Amelia, Arliya and Sophie measured all of the teddies to see which one was the tallest and which one was the shortest. Very proudly they asked to go on the blog to share their learning. What was the next challenge? To build a house using the construction straws that was the right size for the toys ...

Learning a new word

During our Knowledge Building Community discussions we have been investigating how we learn. We found out that we all learn in different ways doing different things. These are a few photos to demonstrate how we found the best way to learn a new word.
