Another present for Nepal
We have been researching facts about the great, Sir Edmund Hilary. He climbed Mt Everest in Nepal, the highest mountain in the world. We found out some interesting things about his life, challenges and experieinces then published them onto some flags, just like the prayer flags they have on the mountains in Nepal. We have posted it to our buddy class so they can hang it around their classrooms and remember us.

Warriors T shirt
This year Pod 2 students at Wanaka Primary School have been buddies for a small rural school in Nepal just outside of Kathmandu. We have been learning about making connections with children on the other side of the world and learning from each other.
Children in Nepal do not have any equipment like what we are lucky enough to have here in Wanaka. One ball, one, slide and one hoop in a muddy, dirt field for 140 children, of all ages. Going to school is a privilege in Nepal and is difficult for many families.
Over this year we have been writing letters, sending parcels and talking with the school. We have a very special relationship with the children there and would like to continue our efforts raising money to help them.
Through one of our amazing parents we have been able to contact Monty Betham. He has kindly organised all of the Warriors to sign a child size 12 Warriors top that we can sell on trade me to raise money for our buddies in Nepal.
You can bid on this top at trade me http://www.trademe.co.nz/ Browse/Listing.aspx?id= 623316679

Nepal Parcel Sent Today!
This week our children have worked hard to make cards and write letters to the Nepalese children. Very kindly, Pod 2 children have donated pocket money and some small gifts to send to their buddy school in Nepal. We are very proud to be able to help children on the other side of the world as we learn alongside each other about global differences.
With the support of some wonderful people at Adventure Consultants here in Wanaka, we are able to get our parcel hand delivered to Govinda (teacher and director of SAV School) early next week.
Thank you to the parents who helped make our learning so meaningful and powerful in valuing differences and supporting others in need. I am sure the learning is mutual for all involved.
If you would like more information about SAV School please check our Global connections tab at the top of this blog.
