This week Room 5 and Room 18 spent Wednesday afternoon together. Room 18 had written instructions to teach their Room 5 a new skill. All children had a fabulous time.

Today there were 130 fingers in Room 5 and we counted all the way in fives! Kapai Kids!

FIRE Writing
Yesterday Room 5 wrote stories based on their thoughts about fire. It was good to see what the children know already before we get into our fire safety unit!
The fire dog gets the fire hose for the fireman. The fire truck can put out a fire with water. Mila.

Whole Class Writing Fun
Today Room 5 worked together at writing time.
Together we wrote an information report about kittens. The children are beginning to remember the features that a report needs. Then some children wrote with the teacher while others wrote independently or practised writing words. Everyone was engaged and produced some great work.

Our Lunch Rubbish
We have been learning about Rubbish this term. On Wednesday Room 5 tipped out the rubbish in our lunch boxes and sorted it. We talked about the properties of the rubbish and what could be reused. There was a lot of plastic bags but we decided if they were washed and dried they could be reused. We also talked about food waste and how some people use compost bins for this. We had a lot of fun doing this and it generated lots of discussion!
