There were so many children who really enjoy researching facts by themselves. We needed a place to record all of our learning. Every child was given a new, lined book called their Investigating Book.
We have some rules to go with our Investigating Books.
1. You can use felts, or jovi's as long as it doesn't make a mess of other pages.
2. Teachers won't mark it or put stickers in it.
3. You have to be proud and respectful of the learning you keep in your book.
4. You can draw pictures to write about, diagrams, write facts, letters, stories, research information.
5. Teachers may give you a skill to practice in your investigation book such as writing a letter or number.
6. If you do research at home, you can bring it to school and stick it in your investigation book to use when we do inquiry.
7. It can't go home in case we forget to bring it back to school, when we need it.
8. You are responsible for it so you have to look after it and put it away in your tote tray whenever you are not using it.
The children are developing skills in self management, recording facts for a purpose, pride, respect and ownership of their learning and how to management information in a logical way.
We couldn't stop the learning today!!! Every child has done the most amazing learning in their investigating books and are very proud of their work. They share their learning and talk about how they have worked hard to get better at a skill.
